Does fluororubber react with wastewater containing 3% hydrofluoric acid?
Fluororubber does not react with a 3% hydrofluoric acid solution at room temperature. However, wastewater containing 3% hydrofluoric acid should be neutralized first before being discharged. Additionally, this type of wastewater can be transported directly using PVC-chlorinated pipes.
The temperature is around 90 degrees. There are process requirements as well as concerns related to particles and crystallization. I am considering using a K-type dynamic seal, so I would like to ask whether fluororubber would work in this case
If crystallization occurs, try to use mechanical seal pumps as little as possible. Additionally, the most common FKM can also withstand 3% HF waste at 90 degrees, so it can be used with confidence.
The poster is choosing a pump – PTFE should be used. Additionally, that K-type dynamic seal isn’t very suitable; a double-face mechanical seal would be better, with the seal faces made of pressure-sintered silicon carbide.

I also want to use a mechanical seal. It’s quite troublesome to use a double-seal system with a mortar pump; I plan to use a side-suction mortar pump. The material used is fine, so there should be no problems

Some sources indicate that ethyl and propyl can also be used. .
