Dear sea friends, should we rely on intuition or measure the actual temperature value? Are there specific standards for temperature increases and decreases? Is temperature measurement for the coil temperature (the process medium) or for the temperature rise of the cooling water?

The mechanical seal specifications should include requirements regarding the temperature reduction of the process medium, as well as the flow rate and pressure of the cooling water
Generally, it depends on the temperature of the medium you are using, as well as the material of the auxiliary seal in the mechanical seal. All of these have documentation requirements. I’m sure about this: it shouldn’t exceed 80 degrees at its highest, with the low temperature being in the high twenties.
You’re right; the thermometers in those devices are basically just for show. To measure the temperature of the process medium, temperature guns are used, but often these guns aren’t very accurate
My cooler also has an excellent design; I’m not sure how to determine whether its internal structure is severely damaged

This is the PLAN21 system for Huayang sealing standards; the thermometer is installed on the outlet side of the medium pipeline in the heat exchanger, and it measures the temperature of the medium after passing through the heat exchanger (the medium flows through the tube side). The heat exchange temperature is influenced by factors such as the properties of the medium and its temperature. Additionally, since the temperature probe measures the temperature from behind the pipeline, the actual temperature readout is lower than that of the medium itself
Check the temperature difference between the inlet and outlet of the heat exchanger; if the difference is small, it needs to be cleaned
First, check whether the outlet temperature of the process medium exceeds the specified design values. Then, examine the temperature difference between the inlet and outlet of the cooling water; if this difference is small, cleaning (or backwashing) should be carried out.
