Bellows-type machinery features a wide range of applications for tubes; they can be used in conditions ranging from low temperatures to high temperatures, from neutral media to corrosive media, from low speeds to high speeds, and in both normal and extreme working conditions. All of these can be achieved by changing the geometry of the bellows – such as its inner and outer diameters, wave thickness, and wavenumber – as well as the elastic modulus of the material, in order to alter the elasticity of the bellows. Depending on the corrosion resistance of the medium, different bellows materials are selected, etc. For example, in neutral media with low working pressure and temperature, such as oil and water, a simple bellows seal made of rubber can be used ; In corrosive media (such as acids or bases), bellows seals made of tetrafluoroethylene can be used ; At high temperatures and high speeds, mechanical seals such as welded metal bellows seals can be used.
There are mainly the following types of bellows-type mechanical seals: 1. Metal bellows mechanical seal: Used in harsh conditions such as high temperature, high pressure, and high speed, with strong adaptability. 2. Rubber bellows mechanical seal: Suitable for low temperature, low pressure, and neutral media; it has a low cost and is easy to install. 3. PTFE bellows mechanical seal: corrosion-resistant, suitable for corrosive media such as acids and bases. .
