What is the purpose of installing a pressure gauge in the area I’ve marked with a black circle? What does it measure? Seeking advice from experts
Reciprocating pumps that have diaphragms or hoses built into them are prone to leakage; this gauge is used to detect such leaks. Advanced models can use a PT gauge combined with a PG gauge, and they come equipped with DCS system alarm functions.
You are referring to checking for leaks in that area. Is it normal for the pump pressure gauge shown in the diagram to show pressure?
Under normal conditions, there is no pressure; pressure along with pulsation usually indicates that a diaphragm has ruptured.
Diaphragm alarm: pressure is generated when the diaphragm is damaged.
It is used for dual-diaphragm monitoring; to be honest, you might not like to hear this, but this technology has long been phased out as its disadvantages outweigh its advantages.
The pump head contains two diaphragms, and the pressure gauge measures the pressure between these two diaphragms. When installing the diaphragms, it is required that the space between the two diaphragms be evacuated, meaning the two diaphragms are in close contact. If one of them gets damaged accidentally, the pressure gauge will indicate pressure, allowing for timely replacement of the diaphragm.
