Our company’s generator sets use variable-frequency pumps to supply water at low load levels, while frequency-conversion pumps are used at high load levels (with the variable-frequency pumps turned off). When the system is shut down and restarted, there is a sudden increase in the current drawn by the frequency-conversion pump. Even after switching the control mode between the two types of pumps, the current drawn by the frequency-conversion pump remains high. No abnormalities were found in the pipelines after inspection (no signs of leakage). Possible reasons include the following: 1. Faults in the pump’s impeller or bearings, resulting in increased power and current consumption; 2. The inlet and outlet pipes of the pump are blocked or too curved, which hinders the flow of water and forces the pump to use more energy to push the water forward ; 3. The pump seals age or wear out, resulting in leaks, which forces the pump to use more power to compensate for the loss ; 4. Leaks in the system (such as water leakage from valves or pipes) cause a drop in water supply pressure, requiring more energy to increase it. It is recommended to check each item based on the actual situation in order to determine the source of the problem. It should be noted that generator sets, as high-efficiency and high-load devices, require regular maintenance and inspection to ensure their proper operation. .
Check whether there is any backflow of water in the frequency-conversion pump’s pipeline due to poor sealing of the check valve, when the power-frequency pump is operating and the frequency-conversion pump is stopped. It is recommended to post a detailed process flow diagram.
