The multi-stage centrifugal pumps used in chemical plants these days are made either of chromium steel or stainless steel – which material is better?
Stainless steel is more corrosion-resistant, but it experiences greater deformation, whereas chromium steel is the opposite. How do you determine which one is better? Look at the medium!
Maraging stainless steel is generally chosen, with 3Cr13 and 2Cr13 being the commonly used types as well
