Are the mouth ring and shaft sleeve standard accessories for centrifugal pumps? Are these two components necessary? Some manufacturers’ pumps seem to lack such components, claiming that their manufacturing precision is sufficient to ensure sealing without the need for gaskets. . . Is that really the case?
It’s not necessarily required; it depends on the type of pump and the manufacturer. As long as it can handle the operating conditions, it’s fine whether it’s present or not. Is it really that important?
Once damaged, it needs to be repaired by either replacing the mouth ring or shaft sleeve, or by replacing the impeller, pump body, or shaft. Wear parts are designed to reduce the cost of repair parts.
Such a situation does exist, but certain functions must remain intact. The front ring is used to separate the high-pressure and low-pressure areas inside the pump, while the rear ring works together with the balance hole to counteract axial forces.
