I. Installation steps and precautions for horizontal multi-stage pumps. The proper installation of horizontal multi-stage pumps has a significant impact on their operation and lifespan; therefore, the installation process must be carried out carefully. 1. Foundation, pipelines, and pump house: It is recommended that users hire professional designers and specialized installation teams to design the foundation, pipelines, and the installation of horizontal multi-stage pumps. 1.1 The foundation must be solid and capable of absorbing the vibrations of horizontal multi-stage pumps as well as providing permanent support for the unit; it must be strong enough to support twice the weight of the unit (including the motor). Reinforced concrete is generally used for the foundation. Reinforcement bolt holes are pre-drilled in the foundation; after installing the horizontal multi-stage pump and inserting the reinforcement bolts, secondary grouting is carried out. 1.2 Do not use horizontal multi-stage pumps as pipeline supports; all pipelines must be supported independently ; The outlet pipe is generally one size larger than the pump outlet ; The installation height of the suction pipe should meet the calculated values; bends should be minimized to avoid excessive losses, and it must be ensured that, during pump operation, the required net positive suction head is not exceeded ; A gate valve and a check valve are installed between the drain pipe and the water pump; the inner diameter of the gate valve must be no smaller than that of the pipe. 1.3 The horizontal multi-stage pump should be installed in a suitable location, as close as possible to the source of the liquid to be pumped, to ensure there is sufficient space for operating, disassembling, and inspecting the pump ; The pump house has sufficient lifting equipment and adequate lifting space. Note: The piping system, foundation, and other components of the equipment are not designed by the pump manufacturer; they fall outside the scope of the manufacturer’s responsibilities for horizontal multi-stage pumps. The manufacturer can provide suggestions, but is not responsible for the design or operation of these aspects. 2. Preparatory work before installing a horizontal multi-stage pump 2.1 Check whether there is any damage or missing parts in the equipment to be installed on site. 2.2 Remove grease and dirt from the foundation, and check the dimensions of the holes reserved for the foundation’s foot bolts, as well as the levelness and flatness of the foundation. 2.3 Prepare the installation tools and lifting equipment. 3. Installation technical requirements for horizontal multi-stage pumps 3.1 Check the concentricity of the outer circles of the motor and pump couplings; verify the concentricity between the motor shaft and the pump shaft. 3.2 There is a clearance between the horizontal multi-stage pump and the motor coupling as specified in the installation diagram. 3.3 After connecting pipes to horizontal multi-stage pumps, recalibrate them once again according to the above requirements. 3.4 The water conveyance pipe has its own supports to prevent all the weight from being placed on the horizontal multistage pump. 4. Installation and alignment of horizontal multi-stage pumps 4.1 Lift the base of the horizontal multi-stage pump, suspend the anchor bolts through the base, and secure them with nuts and washers to ensure that the anchor bolts hang freely within the pre-installed holes. Between the base and the foundation, paired wedge shims are used for alignment. Lift the pump and place it on the pump base, then use bolts to secure the horizontal multi-stage pump to the pump base. 4.2 Place a level on the pump shaft; adjust the shims to correct the levelness of the pump shaft (less than 0.05 mm/m). Install the centerline of the pump shaft at the correct elevation, and properly tighten the anchor bolts to prevent any movement. Outer diameter of coupling (mm): 190, 220, 260, 330, 410, 640, 750. End-face gap between two couplings (mm): 4, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 8. 4.3 Fill the anchor bolt holes with concrete. 4.4 After the concrete has dried, check whether the horizontal multi-stage pump, motor, and foot bolts are loose. Once they are in proper condition, tighten the nut of the foot bolts and check the levelness and concentricity again. 4.5 After connecting the pipelines and confirming the rotation direction of the water pump, check the concentricity once again. Later, the pins of the coupling were connected. 4.6 After 4 to 5 hours of trial operation of the unit, conduct a final inspection; if no abnormalities are found, the installation is considered successful. Precautions for installing horizontal multi-stage pumps: 1. During the installation of horizontal multi-stage pumps, all openings must be covered to prevent debris from falling into the pump. 2. Verify the rotation direction of the horizontal multistage pump; an incorrect rotation direction can cause equipment damage and personal injury. 3. The inlet and outlet flanges of horizontal multi-stage pumps must not bear external forces from the pipeline.
