For a certain operating condition, I want to use a pneumatic diaphragm pump. A leader said, “No, it’s better to use an electric one; it saves energy.” The reason is: air compressors need electricity, right? Then, air must be compressed to generate power, which is then transmitted to the site to drive the diaphragm pump. It’s better to use an electric diaphragm pump directly. I was completely speechless. Firstly, the air compressor is not designed specifically for this diaphragm pump. Moreover, electric diaphragm pumps are only available domestically; they require a gearbox, and in previous use the eccentric wheels tended to get damaged, resulting in a high repair rate. Secondly, for electric diaphragm pumps, I still need to run cables to install an explosion-proof starter, while pneumatic pumps have lower installation costs. Pneumatic systems have a low failure rate and lower maintenance costs.
