A pneumatic diaphragm pump is a positive displacement pump that uses compressed air as power, with the diaphragm undergoing reciprocating deformation to cause changes in volume. Its working principle is similar to that of a piston pump. Due to the characteristics of its working principle, pneumatic diaphragm pumps have the following features: (1) The pump does not overheat: Since compressed air is used as the power source, the exhaust process involves expansion and heat absorption; therefore, the temperature of the pump decreases during operation, and no harmful gases are emitted. (2) No electric sparks are generated: Pneumatic diaphragm pumps do not rely on electricity as a power source, and grounding prevents static electric sparks. (3) It can be achieved through a liquid containing particles: Since it operates in a positive-displacement manner and the inlet is a ball valve, it is not prone to clogging. (4) The shear force on the material is extremely low: it draws in and discharges the material in the same way it was taken in, so there is little disturbance to the material, making it suitable for transporting unstable substances. Countering the above advantages, pneumatic diaphragm pumps have greater advantages in wastewater treatment plants. For example: it has excellent explosion-proof properties, it can transport media containing particles, and it can be used for adding chemicals in sewage treatment processes, among other applications.
