If the suction pressure of a centrifugal pump is too low, below the saturated vapor pressure of the fluid being pumped, steam corrosion will occur. At this time, check whether the water inlet system is blocked, whether the opening degree of the water inlet valve is too small, or increase the liquid level in the water inlet tank. 2. Internal leakage. When the gap between the rotating and stationary parts of a centrifugal pump exceeds the designed range, internal leakage occurs, which is manifested as a decrease in the pump’s discharge pressure, such as in the gaps around the impeller flanges and between the stages of a multi-stage pump. At this point, corresponding disassembly inspections should be carried out, and parts with excessive gaps should be repaired or replaced. 3. Channel blockage. If the impeller flow channel is partially blocked, it will disrupt the operation of the impeller and cause a decrease in outlet pressure. Therefore, the pump needs to be removed for inspection and cleaning of impurities. To prevent such problems from occurring again, a filtering device can be installed in front of the pump inlet if necessary. 4. Motor reverses direction. Due to wiring reasons, the rotation direction of the motor is opposite to the actual specification of the fluorine-lined magnetic drive pump; therefore, it is usual to first check the rotation direction of the pump at startup. If the direction is reversed, the two wires on the motor terminals can be swapped freely. 5. The performance curve of the fluorine-lined magnetic pump continues to decline; as the head decreases, the flow rate gradually increases. During operation, for various reasons, the back pressure of the pump decreases, causing the pump’s operating point to deviate passively from the high-flow point at low head along the performance curve, which results in a decrease in head. In fact, this is due to changes in external factors such as equipment, and it has nothing special to do with the pump itself. At this point, the problem can be solved simply by increasing the back pressure of the pump, such as by closing the outlet valve. 6. Rotor diameter and pump speed. With all other conditions unchanged, the pump’s head and speed are proportional to the square of the power. It can be seen that speed causes significant damage to the head. Sometimes, due to various external factors, the pump’s speed decreases, and as a result, its head also decreases. At this time, the pump speed should be checked. The speed is insufficient; the cause should be checked and resolved appropriately.
