In order to maintain the excellent properties of tungsten carbide and overcome the defects of deformation and looseness of the hot-fit sealing ring, brazed sealing rings have emerged. Figure 25 shows the structure of such a ring. Make a groove on the ring seat and use a low melting point solder to weld between the ring and the seat. After the solder melts, the ring and the seat are connected together and the seal between the two is achieved. The outstanding advantage of this sealing ring is that the carbide ring does not deform. On the one hand, there is no extrusion stress on the mating surface between the ring and the seat. ; On the other hand, with laser welding, the heat is highly concentrated on the solder, and the heating time is short. The ring and seat are almost not heated, and it is even impossible to complete the welding without melting. The solder has good plasticity and the remaining soldering stress has been absorbed by the solder. This kind of sealing ring has been developed by some foreign companies (manufacturers) in series. The Shengli Refinery of Qilu Petrochemical Company in China entrusted the Institute of Metal Corrosion and Protection of the Academy of Sciences to successfully develop it. After more than two years of field application, it has achieved good results in the sealing of atmospheric and vacuum tower bottom pumps (around 370°C), and it is a promising sealing ring.
The brazed combined sealing ring structure mainly uses grooves on the ring seat and low melting point solder to connect and seal the carbide ring and the ring seat. This design avoids the deformation of the carbide ring because there is no extrusion stress, and the heat is mainly concentrated on the solder part through laser welding, and the heating time is short, so that the ring and seat will not be overheated or melted. The solder has good plasticity and can absorb residual welding stress. This design has been serially produced by some foreign companies. It was successfully developed in China by a scientific research institution entrusted by the Shengli Refinery of Qilu Petrochemical Company. It has achieved good results in practical applications and shows good application prospects. .
