According to information released by Wuzhou Valve Co., Ltd. on December 3, 2019, these large-diameter fully welded ball valves (40 inches, 48 inches, 56 inches, with a pressure rating of 900 pounds) were manufactured and put into industrial use domestically by Wuzhou Valve, thereby ensuring the smooth operation of the China-Russia East oil and natural gas pipeline!

On December 2, 2019, the China-Russia East Route natural gas pipeline was put into operation, and its key equipment, the \"56-inch, 900-pound class, ultra-large diameter fully welded ball valve,\" was manufactured by Wuzhou Valves. The China-Russia East Route natural gas pipeline is over 8,000 kilometers long, both inside and outside the country. The lowest temperatures along its length reach minus 40 degrees Celsius. The great length of the pipeline and the harsh conditions along its route mean that the \"48-inch, 600-pound grade\" standard commonly used in the international market is not sufficient to meet the requirements for gas transportation. In 2017, Wuzhou Valves independently developed the \"56-inch, 900-pound class, ultra-large diameter fully welded ball valve,\" overcame technical challenges, and won the bid successfully. Developing and manufacturing ball valves of such a large diameter represents a challenge for Wuzhou Valves. After winning the bid, the company’s R&D team began to work continuously on solving the challenges. “When the diameter of a ball valve is large, the pressure rating also needs to be increased, and welding is crucial in this process. ”Chen Jinfá explained that, after the traditional welding process, heat treatment is necessary to enhance the safety of ball valves; however, heat treatment can affect the performance of the sealing rings. The company’s R&D team developed several innovative design techniques, enabling the implementation of a process that eliminates the need for heat treatment on the main welds of the valve body. As a result, these ball valves can achieve the highest capacities and pressures in the industry. Furthermore, this product has overcome challenges in processes such as manufacturing, processing, assembly, and testing, earning a total of 2 invention patents and 4 utility model patents. In June 2019, all 24 ultra-large-diameter ball valves were completed for commissioning, and after passing the pre-delivery inspection organized by the project team’s experts as well as the on-site inspection for the engineering project, they were officially put into use.
