Liu Ji’s poem from the Ming Dynasty, “Heavy Rain on May 19th”: The wind drives the fierce rain upon the high city; clouds bring low thunder with a deep resonant sound. After the rain, the dragon’s whereabouts are unknown; the pond is covered with green grass and filled with the croaking of frogs.
The wind drives fierce rain upon the high city (high), while clouds bring low rumbling thunder that echoes through the land (low). After the rain, one knows not where the dragon has gone (far away); by the pond, green grass and the croaking of countless frogs (right nearby). It lacks momentum; the dragon and the frog are too different from each other. Gaocheng isn’t much different from Yindi
