Under the guidance of the commitments to achieve carbon peak and carbon neutrality, Luxi Group is fully aware of the urgency and severity of the \"dual carbon\" challenge, and it actively explores, studies, introduces, and applies low-carbon, zero-carbon, and negative-carbon technologies. As the key entity responsible for supplying raw gas for production in the park, the Gasification Furnace Division 1 has carried out a series of initiatives to overcome challenges related to energy conservation and carbon reduction, as well as to improve quality, efficiency, and safe operation. It has earnestly embodied the spirit of Sinochem in the new era. Pursue innovation to achieve new breakthroughs in emission reduction and carbon cutting. In the control room of the Gasifier Division 1, the division’s head, Wang Huaxing, said to the team working on carbon neutrality initiatives related to gasifiers: “Everyone must work together and actively embody the spirit of Sinochem in the new era, so as to create conditions for achieving low-carbon and zero-carbon outcomes. As long as we all share the same goals and work together, there is nothing that cannot be accomplished.” The journey is long, but only through hard work can we succeed! Various tasks, such as investigating the complex gas reactions within the gasification furnace, studying the structure of the furnace’s equipment, and on-site inspection to compare the angles of pipe arrangements, are being carried out in an orderly and vigorous manner. By ensuring precise measurement and recording of the parameters of various process media, formulating plans in a timely manner to address key challenges, and making periodic adjustments to the experiments, it is possible to maintain high temperatures inside the furnace, thereby enabling it to \"consume\" CO2. This approach solves various problems such as reduced carbon conversion rates that occur when these substances cannot participate in the reaction. By arranging the reaction zones appropriately in the key areas of the gasifier, the output of CO2 in the product gas increased during the initial stage. The research team concluded that this was due to the reaction of CO2 with carbon to produce other gases, a reaction that requires a large amount of heat; they wondered whether further adjustments might weaken this reaction In the face of difficulties and doubts, the company’s leadership provided the research team with significant support and encouragement at the right time, urging everyone to \"be dedicated, meticulous, broaden their thinking, and find a balance point for adjustments,\" which inspired everyone. Immediately thereafter, they continued to experiment and make adjustments to reduce the steam supplied to the furnace, thereby maintaining a high temperature inside it. While ensuring stability within the gasification furnace, they promoted carbon conversion by continuously optimizing the ratio of oxygen/coal/steam and the conditions of the gasification reaction. After 6 months of intensive research and exploration, the optimal conversion point was identified on the basis of carbon neutrality, enabling negative carbon emissions in the gasification furnace and improving its operational quality. It is of great significance for improving the recovery of carbon dioxide emissions in coal chemical enterprises, reducing carbon emissions, and promoting the development of coal gasification in such enterprises. Overcoming challenges to achieve new results in mill renovation – How to improve the particle size of coal powder and reduce wear on the equipment has always been a problem that needs to be addressed during the operation of coal powder systems. In 2022, Division 1 for Gasifiers took on the challenge of addressing this issue, aiming to \"improve the particle size of coal powder, reduce waste volume, and optimize the operation of coal mills.\" Wang Huaxing, the head of Division 1 for Gasifiers, led key technical personnel to form a dedicated \"Task Force for the Transformation and Optimization of the Coal Powder System\" to study ways to improve the coal mills and the coal powder pipelines. Xu Zongxin, the leader of the task force, along with key team members Liu Fenglei, Fan Zhiqiang, and Du Yitao, conducted in-depth studies of the drawings related to the coal grinding machine system as well as its historical operating conditions. They determined that component A should be the focus for improvements; this component has a significant impact on the flow patterns within the coal grinding machine. By modifying component A, it is possible to increase the wind speed and optimize the flow of coal powder. With a clear direction, the members of the task force were greatly inspired, and their thinking became even more open. By collecting data, conducting research, and carrying out on-site inspections, the task force developed a detailed plan for improvement and optimization. The equipment was optimized from five aspects: the wind speed of component A, the clearance between the moving and stationary rings, the contact surface of the grinding rollers, the centrifugal blades, and the optimization of component A itself, in order to achieve the desired improvements. With an implementation plan in place, it falls to the maintenance team of the division to carry out on-site repair tasks in a high-quality and efficient manner. To complete this task perfectly, Li Lianhua, the maintenance team leader, led his team in conducting thorough planning in advance. He organized professionals to break down each disassembly and inspection step in detail based on the blueprints, identified the key factors that could affect progress during the maintenance work, and developed corresponding solutions, ensuring 24/7 continuous work. In the early hours of the night, the maintenance site remained brightly lit; every step of the maintenance work, such as lifting the frame of the coal grinding machine, replacing the grinding rollers, and welding seals, was carried out in a tense yet orderly manner. The installation of the components inside the coal grinder and the welding of the sealing surfaces require lifting operations and the use of fire in a narrow space within the coal grinder; every action taken by the maintenance personnel, as well as every turn they make, must be carried out with great care to ensure that the work is completed to high standards. The maintenance staff demonstrated an innovative spirit by developing their own specialized tools for positioning internal components, which not only ensured the quality of installation but also improved work efficiency. The overhaul time for the coal grinder has been reduced from 17 days to 10 days, with the maintenance tasks being completed to a high standard, achieving the best results ever for such overhauls. At the beginning of November, once the system was put into operation, and after adjusting several key parameters such as the speed of the centrifuge, the volume of circulating air, and the pressure in the hydraulic station, several hours of operation resulted in a particle size detection rate for coal powder rising to 90%, while the amount of waste reduced by 85%. The results met all expectations. Academic achievements are the result of each person’s efforts to overcome difficulties, and they represent the reward for hard work and dedication. Taking practical actions to achieve the new goal of zero accidents: On December 30, 2021, Sinochem introduced its HSE Leadership Strategy and the FORUS system; the FORUS system serves as a guide for all fundamental tasks, establishing work objectives and standards at a higher level and across a broader range of areas. With a goal in mind, simply shouting slogans is not enough to achieve it; fulfilling one’s duties and working hard is what truly lies at the heart of ensuring safety. The implementation and assessment of a comprehensive safety production responsibility system for all employees, individual safety action plans, safety observations and communication, as well as the involvement of managers in JSA analyses, are all concrete manifestations of managers at all levels fulfilling their \"leadership role\". From department heads and safety supervisors to team leaders in charge of maintenance and workshop managers, they are all involved in managing high-risk tasks on the production floor every day. Before carrying out these tasks, they conduct risk analyses together with the employees, develop and improve safety control measures, and carry out safety inspections during the process to identify and correct any unsafe behaviors promptly. By setting an example and leading by example, managers enable employees to truly appreciate the importance that leaders at all levels place on safety, thereby providing a solid foundation for ensuring safe operations. In 2022, the Gasification Furnace Division 1 remained committed to maintaining a strict approach to safety management, reinforcing a sense of responsibility among all employees. It also promoted a culture free from blame, making use of positive incentives to encourage those who actively participated in safety management and fulfilled their responsibilities in this area. More than 30 employees were honored with titles such as “Red Ribbon Star,” “Safety Pioneer,” and “Model Mentor and Apprentice,” while 12 teams were awarded the title of “Five-Star Red Flag Team.” This approach enhanced the sense of honor and satisfaction among all employees, fostered a strong awareness of safety and a willingness to avoid violations of safety rules, and strengthened the company’s safety management system. Since April 2021, the division has achieved 730 days of accident-free operation. The Gasification Furnace Division 1 will be guided by the \"spirit, vitality, and determination\" of Sinochem in the new era, maintaining a high level of fighting spirit at all times. It will continue to strengthen its foundations, pursue innovation, take on responsibilities bravely, be willing to make sacrifices, work hard, move forward courageously, and keep achieving new successes.
