The Shanxi Dongfang Jishan project, with a total investment of 2 billion yuan and a production capacity of 1.06 million tons of compacted coke, and Dongfang Resources’ project for the upgrade of its coke production capacity to 1.06 million tons per year using 6.25-meter diameter reactors, are located in the Xishe Industrial Park of the Jishan Economic and Technological Development Zone. These are coke production projects that were established as part of a strategy to replace smaller facilities with larger ones. The main construction elements include: a regenerative tamping coke oven with 48+49 carbonization chambers and a height of 6.25 meters, accompanied by 2×125 tons/hour quenching systems (operating in rotation). The steam generated from quenching is used to power the existing generator sets owned by Dongfang Company. The coke oven is heated using blast furnace gas from the ferromanganese plant (with backup heating using coke oven gas), and the purified coke oven gas is supplied to Shanxi Yangmei Fengxi Quanji Energy Co., Ltd. within the industrial park for the production of ammonia, urea, and LNG. The total investment for the project is 2 billion yuan, of which about 253 million yuan is allocated to environmental protection measures.
