Environmental impact assessment for the 70,000-ton-per-year technical upgrade project of etherification-based isobutylene production at Zibo Qixiang Tengda Chemical Co., Ltd. has been accepted

Recently, the Zibo Ecology and Environment Bureau issued a public notice announcing that the environmental impact assessment report for Zibo Qixiang Tengda Chemical Co., Ltd.’s 70,000-ton-per-year technical upgrade project for the production of isobutylene through etherification has been accepted for review. It is reported that the total investment in this project amounts to 20.73 million yuan. The existing 70,000 tons per year etherification plant for producing isobutylene will be partially upgraded; the main production equipment (the MTBE etherification plant for isobutylene production) will be modified. The reactors and towers will make use of the existing equipment, while four new units will be added, including a tert-butanol feed evaporation tank and evaporators. Other utilities, storage and transportation systems, as well as environmental protection facilities will also make use of the existing infrastructure. After the technical upgrade, both butanol and MTBE can be used to produce isobutylene, and the production capacity of isobutylene remains unchanged following the upgrade.
