Recently, a review meeting for the 90% 3D model of the gasification unit in the olefins, aromatics, and deep processing project of Shaanxi Coal Group Yulin Chemical Co., Ltd.’s 15 million tons per year demonstration project for clean and efficient conversion of coal into various products was held at Aerospace Changzheng Chemical Engineering Co., Ltd. This review is a key milestone in the project design, marking the full transition of the gasification unit into the detailed design phase. Relevant chemical project departments from Yulin, design institutes, and external technical experts attended the meeting. The gasification unit of Phase 1 of Yulin Chemical Project Phase II adopts the HT-L pressurized coal gasification technology from the aerospace industry, and is equipped with 6 gasifiers (5 in operation and 1 as backup). As the core unit in the chain for the clean and efficient conversion of coal under Phase 2, Stage 1 of the project, the design quality of the gasification unit is directly related to the stable operation of the entire plant as well as its energy efficiency levels. This model review strictly adhered to relevant standards such as the \"Code for Fire Protection Design of Petrochemical Enterprises\" and other industry norms. Building on 60% of the results obtained from the model review, it focused on the final confirmation of design details and ensuring thorough coordination among different teams, thereby laying a solid foundation for subsequent material procurement and equipment installation. The review adopted a meticulous verification approach of \"breaking down each unit and conducting a comprehensive scan,\" to systematically examine the overall piping layout in key units such as the gasification framework, slag treatment, and powder production and transportation; the precise positioning of equipment; the integration of instrumentation, electrical, and piping systems; the provisions for civil engineering structures; as well as the professional interfaces. Special emphasis is placed on ensuring full compliance with requirements regarding maintenance spaces for critical equipment, safety passages for operations, stress analysis of complex pipelines and support solutions, as well as digital delivery standards, so as to optimize the design in terms of construction feasibility, ease of operation and maintenance, and control of life-cycle costs. It is reported that through thorough review, a total of 276 high-quality optimization and confirmation suggestions were developed, enabling proactive and in-depth control of design risks. All parties present agreed that 90% of the current 3D models are reasonably designed and have complete data, meeting the delivery requirements for this stage; they are fully ready to proceed to more detailed design work. They also expressed high approval of the achievements already made by the design team. The 15 million tons per year demonstration project for the clean and efficient conversion of coal into various products at Shaanxi Coal Group Yulin Chemical Co., Ltd. – focusing on the production of olefins, aromatics, and products derived from their further processing – builds upon the first-phase project. Through the systematic integration of coal pyrolysis, coal/semi-coke gasification, and downstream processing technologies, this project aims to further expand and extend the industrial chain. It seeks to explore new pathways for the combined development of coal-based olefins and coal-based aromatics, with the goal of producing four categories of high-value-added products: high-performance materials, battery electrolyte solvents, biodegradable materials, and special oils. Ultimately, it aims to produce chemical products such as polyolefins, polyesters, polycarbonates, polyether polyols, EVA, POE, SAP, DMC, DEC, EMC, and EC, thereby promoting the advancement, diversification, and low-carbon development of the coal chemical industry. Following the principle of \"overall planning and phased implementation,\" the Phase 2 project is divided into Phase 2, Stage 1 projects and subsequent projects. Phase 1 of Phase II covers an area of approximately 9,200 mu, with an estimated total investment for the project at around 62 billion yuan. Coal gasification utilizes 9 3,500-ton-class space furnaces; the facility is primarily designed to produce 5.6 million tons per year of methanol from coal, as well as 1.48 million tons per year of olefins from methanol, along with various downstream processed products. In total, 2.77 million tons per year of 8 different products such as polyethylene, polypropylene, EVA, and SAP are produced.
