Public announcement on the environmental impact assessment for Jiangsu Suopu’s 200,000 tons/year dimethyl carbonate project

Recently, the Zhenjiang Ecology and Environment Bureau issued a public notice regarding the acceptance of the environmental impact assessment report for Jiangsu Supor Chemical Co., Ltd.’s 200,000-ton per year dimethyl carbonate production project. Upon completion of the project, it will have an annual production capacity of 100,000 tons of industrial-grade dimethyl carbonate and 100,000 tons of electronic-grade dimethyl carbonate; by-products such as dimethyl oxalate, sodium nitrate, sodium carbonate, and sodium chloride will also be produced. Auxiliary facilities including utility systems, tank areas, and storage spaces will be constructed simultaneously. This project adopts the methanol vapor carbonylation dimethyl carbonate technology package from Ube, Japan. This technology has been successfully applied in numerous projects both domestically and internationally, such as Zhongyan Hongsihuang, Shanxi Xiaxin, Huaibei Linhuan, and Shaanxi Yulin Coal Chemical Industry. The production capacity ranges from 50,000 tons per year to 200,000 tons per year; the plant at Zhongyan Hongsihuang has been operating steadily for many years, with a mature process that is safe and reliable. The total investment in the project amounts to 1,543,797,600 yuan, of which 43,750,000 yuan is allocated to environmental protection measures, accounting for 2.83% of the total investment. Construction plan for this project: Construction is scheduled to begin in June 2027 and be completed by December 2029.
