On March 12, two 2,000-ton SE-Dongfang furnaces developed by the Ningbo Engineering Company of Sinopec Refining & Chemical Engineering Group were successfully installed on the 34.5-story foundation of the gasification unit in the POX plant of the Zhongke Refining & Chemical integration project, which has a hydrogen production capacity of 180,000 Nm3/h. It is reported that the coal-to-hydrogen facility of Sinochem Refining and Chemicals is equipped with two gasifiers. Each gasifier has a diameter of 4.4 meters, a height of 24 meters, and a weight of over 300 tons. As per the design requirements, the gasification process utilizes the SE Dongfang fluidized bed pressurized coal gasification technology, which was developed through a collaboration between Sinopec and East China University of Science and Technology. This technology features wide compatibility with different types of coal, low raw material consumption, high carbon conversion efficiency, high efficiency in producing cold gas, and ease of scaling up for larger installations. For the POX unit in this Sinochem Refining and Chemicals project, gasifiers of the SE-Dongfang Type III model with a capacity of 2,000 tons per day have been selected; these represent the highest daily coal handling capacity among similar products in China, placing them at the leading level in the industry. As one of Sinopec’s \"Ten Dragon\" technology development projects, it features greater processing capacity, wider adaptability to different coal types, a more intelligent system, and improved energy efficiency and environmental protection. It represents a reliable and stable large-scale clean, efficient fluidized bed gasification technology, and is currently the mainstream furnace type in the gasification market. The two gasification units of Sinochem Refining and Chemical will be installed on the platforms located on the fourth floor of the coal gasification framework, with the height of these platforms exceeding 30 meters. To ensure that the two gasification units can be safely lifted into place, thousand-ton crawler cranes were used for the lifting operation. Through careful planning and organized construction prior to the lifting process, the foundation preparation was completed on schedule, allowing the cranes to arrive on time and be assembled successfully. After inspections and evaluations by the project team and the supervisor of all tasks carried out before the lifting, it was confirmed that all conditions for the lifting operation were met. With the successful lifting and installation of the two gasifiers at Sinochem Refining & Chemicals on March 12, this not only marked the beginning of the process of lifting large-scale equipment for the coal-to-hydrogen plant there, but it also provided valuable experience for the successful installation of the absorption tower and reabsorption tower in the acid removal unit. To date, more than 30 pieces of equipment have been installed in Sinochem Refining & Chemicals’ coal-to-hydrogen plant, including mechanical equipment such as vacuum pumps ； Over 30 types of stationary equipment (adsorption towers, detoxification tanks, gasification furnaces, flushing tanks).
