Lianyue Gas’s 10,000-ton/year green hydrogen-based acrylic acid project in Inner Mongolia has been approved

On April 9, information from the Online Approval Service Hall for Investment Projects in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region showed that the industrial project filing (development and reform) for the 10,000-ton/year green hydrogen-based acrylic acid production project submitted by Guangdong Lianyue Hydrogen Energy Co., Ltd. complies with industrial policies and market access standards; thus, it has been approved for filing. Project owner: Guangdong Lianyue Hydrogen Energy Co., Ltd. Location of construction: Jiuyuan District, Baotou City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Total investment: 1,400 million yuan, of which 420 million yuan comes from own funds, 980 million yuan is to be obtained through bank loans, and 0 million yuan from other sources. Planned start and completion dates: March 2026 to July 2027. Scale and scope of the project: This project involves the synthesis of methanol via CO2 hydrogenation, followed by the oxidation of methanol to produce formaldehyde. Formaldehyde is then combined with acetic acid in the presence of a catalyst to yield acrylic acid. Through distillation, acrylic acid products with a purity of over 99.5% are obtained, and these products meet the specifications for high-purity acrylic acid as defined in the “Standards for Acrylic Acid and Esters for Industrial Use” (GB/T 17529.1-2023). It includes a CO2 capture system, a methanol synthesis system, a formaldehyde synthesis system, an acrylic acid synthesis system, as well as auxiliary facilities, and one office building.
