Recently, the main structure of the biochemical tank for gasification wastewater within the sewage treatment facility associated with the 15-million-ton/year demonstration project on the clean and efficient conversion of coal by quality fractions, undertaken by Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Industry Yulin Chemical, was completed. This was achieved 46 days ahead of schedule. This wastewater treatment facility is the largest of its kind for coal chemical projects under construction worldwide. Located in the Yushen Qingshui Industrial Park in Yulin, Shaanxi, this facility is a core environmental protection supporting project for the overall project. The gasification sewage biochemical tank measures 179.2 meters in length, 144 meters in width, and 7.9 meters in height. Its total construction area is 25,776 square meters, with an effective volume of approximately 170,000 cubic meters. The designed treatment capacity is 2,000 cubic meters per hour. It consists of three process units: a sewage biochemical treatment unit, a sewage reuse unit, and an evaporation crystallization unit. The facility primarily employs a two-stage A/O advanced process to carry out biological carbon and nitrogen removal reactions within the tanks, and is designed to treat high-concentration, high-ammonia-nitrogen, and difficult-to-degrade gasification wastewater generated during operation. During the project construction phase, to ensure progress, the project team established a dedicated task force to coordinate and integrate resources from all parties, as well as to optimize the construction organization and the sequencing of various tasks ； For key aspects such as the construction of the main structure and the coordination of multi-disciplinary concurrent work, the construction plan is carefully reviewed repeatedly, and technical briefings are carried out at various levels ； Strictly implement grid-based on-site management, exercise tight control over key processes such as rebar and formwork use as well as concrete pouring. Strengthen quality control and safety supervision throughout the entire process, coordinate various factors including weather conditions and material supply, and make every effort to overcome construction challenges. While adhering to strict safety standards and ensuring high project quality, complete the topping-out of the main structure to a high standard. Once completed, the facility is expected to reduce annual COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) emissions by approximately 20,000 tons and save over 35 million tons of water per year. It will help overcome the bottlenecks of high water consumption and severe pollution associated with coal chemical industries, thereby contributing to breaking through “water constraints” in the northwestern coal chemical industry base, as well as to the clean and efficient utilization of coal and the ecological protection of the Yellow River Basin.
