The 25th National \"Safety Production Month\" in 2026: Everyone should talk about safety and know how to handle emergencies; risks and hazards need to be identified and addressed. -------------------------------------------------- Recently, the carbon fiber project of Donghua Energy, located in the Green Chemicals and Hydrogen Energy Industrial Park in Maoming Binhai New Area, Guangdong, has seen accelerated progress, with the carbonization production line, which is over 500 meters long, entering the final stage of trial operation with materials in use. “In the initial phase of the project, T700 carbon fiber is the main product; subsequently, T800 and T1000 will be introduced one after another. ”Zhu Bo, a professor at Shandong University and chairman of Donghua Energy (Maoming) Carbon Fiber Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Donghua Energy”), said that he led his team through 18 years of research and development to overcome the key technologies related to T1000-grade high-performance carbon fiber, thereby obtaining independent intellectual property rights. The density of T1000-grade carbon fiber products is only 1/4 that of steel, while their strength is more than 10 times that of ordinary steel. The project utilizes the “two-step process of aqueous precipitation polymerization followed by dry-jet wet spinning”. This process not only enables the stable production of high-strength products, but also features a fast spinning speed and significant economies of scale, thereby achieving a balance between high performance and low costs. According to the plan, the project will achieve full-process integration—from polymerization and spinning to carbonization—by September. In the short term, the product specifications are expected to fully meet T800 standards. By the end of the year, the facility will have the capacity to produce T1000-grade carbon fiber. The annual full-capacity output of carbon fiber is projected to range between 800 and 1,000 tons. “The product hasn’t even left the factory yet, but orders from the market have already arrived. ”Zhu Bo revealed that Shandong Jiangshan Fiber Technology Co., Ltd. will purchase 300 tons of carbon fiber this year, with the volume expected to rise to 500 tons next year. The products will be supplied directly to its Dongguan base to serve Guangdong’s low-altitude economy industry. In addition, Yangzhou YAPP Automotive Components Co., Ltd. has also signed a contract with the company; its annual demand is for 500 tons of carbon fiber products, which will be used in lightweight automotive components such as high-pressure hydrogen storage tanks. Guangdong is a global hub for high-end manufacturing, with emerging industries such as the low-altitude economy and new energy vehicles developing rapidly, resulting in high demand for carbon fiber. However, until now, large-scale production of high-performance carbon fiber in the province has not existed. The commissioning of this project will fill this gap and provide crucial raw material support for the manufacturing industry in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. In terms of technological autonomy, the project has applied for 9 core patents for industrial production, covering equipment, processes, and product technology routes; meanwhile, efforts are underway to secure overseas patents in the Middle East, Europe, and the United States.
