Rounding of nominal thickness

The book states that the thickness should be rounded up to the standard specification for steel (our teacher mentioned rounding it to an even number). Which standard should be referred to in order to find this standard specification? For example, I have now calculated that the nominal thickness of the cylinder is 12.1 (without rounding). Should I use 13 or 14?
