EHS Section — My experiences in participating in forum management and learning*

At first, I just wanted to download some standards and specifications; to do so, I spent a lot of time on forums trying to earn money, especially since there were often rewards given during holidays in the early years. Gradually, as thousands in wealth were accumulated, interest in participating faded away, and people only came to check in occasionally. It was only in the past year that I truly became actively involved in the forum. In the second half of last year, I can’t remember exactly why; it seems I posted a question on a forum. My interest was rekindled, and for a while I was very eager to reply to posts and address questions. On the other hand, it also feels like the forum’s section structure is more logical than before, making it easier to navigate around the forum. The boss of yuchenchf in the production area asked me if I wanted to become a moderator there. At that time I was a bit worried, wondering whether this would affect my work. It seems that there is indeed some impact; when I have free time during working hours, I want to check the forum, which takes up some of my working time. However, some work-related issues can have answers found on forums, or more information can be obtained there. The impacts can be positive as well as negative. It’s hard to tell whether there are more positive or negative aspects. Start implementing *moderators from the secure version. In less than half a year, the leader of yuchenchf awarded recognition for three consecutive months; it felt pretty honorable, and I also thought that the discussions and sharing involved were quite valuable. Safety is not my area of specialization, but after working in this field for a long time, I have gained a certain level of understanding. In the secure version of the management interface, one can still come across many valuable security technologies, theories, and knowledge pieces on a daily basis. These can be compared with what one already knows, and it can be said to be a process of enriching one’s knowledge and experience. And when I see fellow sea lovers asking questions, as long as I know something about them, I try my best to answer them; sometimes I even spend some time looking up information, which helps me gain a deeper understanding of that topic. In fact, by helping others, we are also helping ourselves. When I have questions to ask, I see many experienced sea travelers providing helpful answers, and to be honest, it’s truly touching. Everyone is strangers to one another, helping each other without any expectation of reward – isn’t this the spirit of KaiChuan? I hope HaiChuan can convey more positive energy. For a forum to thrive, having a large user base is very important. Each section needs to be attractive enough to encourage more people to participate. Through various activities, especially those such as a daily question and a weekly topic, it is indeed possible to **increase popularity. Opinions on the daily question are mixed. Many people believe that the appeal of this approach to sea enthusiasts stems more from the temptation of earning money by answering questions. This popularity contains a high amount of hype; it is not the foundation for the growth and development of the community, and the forum needs more technical discussions. In fact, its positive effects, such as helping members learn or consolidate their knowledge in various technical fields, are also worthy of recognition. It is unclear whether there are any evaluation metrics and statistical data regarding members’ participation and loyalty to the forum. There are various statistical figures on the forum, and it’s best to have a clear explanation of them. The establishment of the safety and environmental protection zone represents a great opportunity for the development of the forum as well as for the growth of its management team. The safety and environmental management and technology teams can be said to have developed well, with good communication and integration. I truly believe that this team has an excellent spirit of teamwork and a high level of engagement. This is made possible by the active coordination and guidance of some key members, such as Deputy Chief Editor Zhaolijun. Today I saw a casual post by Shutong, talking about the carefulness of the FOREST_GUMP moderator in forum communication and management.
