A few days ago, an expert came for an inspection and said that the pump bodies and filters in the pumping area needed to be grounded. I would like to ask everyone: have the pump bodies in your unit been grounded? How to add it? (The pump motors are all grounded)
The pump’s motor operates on 380V three-phase power; it is grounded to prevent electrical leakage from the motor. This protection helps avoid electric shock in case someone touches the motor, as well as to prevent static electricity buildup when transporting flammable liquids and gases. . Secondly, gasoline hydrogenation units are quite dangerous; installing grounding facilities on the pump is similar to connecting an electrostatic jumper to the pump’s outlet pipeline. . . I’ve seen pumps in many units that aren’t grounded; only large-scale units have grounding. Is it a problem with the design done by the design institute? Have new regulations been issued again? Adding a ground connection is better, but is it necessary?
The questions raised by the experts are sound in principle; I just want to know how to carry them out in practice. Who among the experts can answer this?
Some experts insist strictly on adhering to a single set of standards, without considering other relevant guidelines when reaching conclusions; the questions they raise are sometimes laughable. One expert sets such requirements this time, and another does something different during the next inspection, leaving those working below unsure of how to make the necessary corrections. It’s as if, in some self-inspections, you fail to keep records; or you do keep records but they aren’t in proper format. Even when you get them in order, they claim that the information recorded is insufficient or not detailed enough. In any case, they will label you as failing, just to show off how clever they are!
The common practice is to have grounding lugs on the pump base, which are connected to an underground grounding grid or grounding busbar using grounding wires. The pump body should be effectively grounded through the base. If the resistance between the pump body and the base is too high, additional bridging should be carried out.
