The backwash water from the soft water pre-filter tank is currently discharged together with the regenerated soft water into industrial wastewater. After consulting the safety and environmental department, it was stated that, according to the definition of industrial water, this water must be sent to industrial wastewater systems. The backwash water from the soft water pre-filter tank seems to contain only minor impurities from tap water; after backwashing, there isn’t much substance in it, and the ammonia nitrogen level is only a few tenths of a unit. I was wondering whether this water could be discharged into domestic wastewater, or whether it might be possible to eliminate the need for such a pre-filter, given that the water source is tap water and it is used for dyeing and printing purposes. In your case, it is acceptable to discharge the rinse water into domestic wastewater; some companies simply discharge it as rainwater.
It’s better not to remove the pre-filter for soft water, as this ensures the quality of water feeding into the RO system. It is no problem to use backwash water for domestic wastewater; generally the concentration of pollutants is low, though the SS level might be a bit high.
