A solid is obtained after evaporation; when is a spray drying tower used?
After spray drying, it should be time for granulation, shaping, and packaging; so this step should come before those others. I’m not sure what process you’re referring to, but it’s likely a step that occurs quite late in the process
Whether it is organic or inorganic substances, for a concentrated solution obtained after evaporation and concentration, there are two ways to obtain a solid form; the most common method is to allow crystallization followed by drying to produce the solid; But there is also a method in which solids are obtained directly from the spray drying tower. I just want to ask how to choose between these two approaches.
This depends on the particle size required for the product you are producing; spray drying results in smaller particles that are also more uniform. Of course, this is also related to costs
I’m working on a project related to wastewater from power plants; the salts involved are mainly sodium chloride and sodium sulfate. It was designed by foreigners, and spray towers are used for treating this water, with no attempt to recover the salts. But for the projects carried out directly, these sodium salts are basically all dried by crystallization, so I really don’t understand it.
Where does sodium chloride originate in power plants? From liquid alkali desulfurization? Sodium sulfate, I guess. The spray tower is mainly used to reduce waste, right?
May I ask the original poster, how is sodium salt ultimately handled in your project? In my current project, the sodium salt content in the wastewater is too high (mainly sodium chloride); it must be separated before it can be fed into the biological treatment system. However, using the crystallized sodium salts as industrial salt as a by-product seems to involve complicated procedures, while landfilling them directly would result in high costs
The specific steps in the power plant are not clear. In the water quality provided, the amount of sodium chloride is about twice that of sodium sulfate (in terms of moles), but I don’t think there should be any impurities after crystallization and drying, right?
