Air-based gas generation and pure oxygen-based gas generation

Having just started working in the coal-to-gas industry, the two methods of gas production I’ve heard of are air-based gas production and oxygen-based gas production. I heard two different opinions: one said that producing air-based gas is rarely done in China, while the other said it is done quite often there. I searched online but couldn’t find any more information, so I asked a friend of Hai Chuan to help me understand the current situation regarding air-based oxygen generation in China – how widely it is used. What is the current situation regarding air-based gas production in China? Is it widely used? There are methods of producing gas from air, oxygen-enriched air, and pure oxygen; currently, oxygen-enriched air and pure oxygen are the most commonly used methods, while there are also those that use air along with coal gas
Why is air-based gas production used less? Is it due to outdated technology, high costs, or other reasons? Which are the domestic factories or design institutes that deal with coal-based gas production? Thank you~
The main considerations are the product, how to make use of the large amount of nitrogen in the air, and how to separate it if it isn’t utilized; in addition, there are requirements regarding pressure levels
Nitrogen does not need to be separated; I haven’t considered the pressure aspect. Which is more challenging, a vaporization furnace using atmospheric air or one using pressurized air? I’m also very interested to know who in China is good at this area. Thank you

Air-based gas generation is mainly used for fuel gas, that is, for combustion. In terms of the number of gas stoves, they are more widely used in China nowadays. Pure oxygen gas generation is mainly used in coal chemical industry to produce feed gas. In terms of quantity, it’s roughly a few percent of the fuel gas furnaces. However, the production capacity of the raw gas furnace is high, several hundred times that of existing fuel gas. So, it depends on the use.
