I’m not sure which companies our fellow sailors work for. I switched from an old factory to a new one a few months ago; it’s a refining company that claims to operate under a modern management model. Coming here, it seems that the division of tasks is quite clear: there are three maintenance units, responsible for static equipment, dynamic equipment, instruments, electrical systems, and so on. There are also dedicated people to clean the area, and the operators are quite tired as well, having to take care of multiple sets of equipment with a limited number of staff. But things like filling the pump with lubricant on a regular basis don’t need to be worried about, as there are people who handle such tasks. When cutting the pump, all the previous inspection work and the various parameters of the pump after the switch-over are checked by the third-party maintenance team, which is quite different from what the operators at the old factory do. It seems that this approach does save the operators a lot of hassle. However, it appears that many of the workers here don’t have a very good understanding of machine pumps. I come from an older factory, where I developed certain habits, or rather, work requirements – there one had to learn about various equipment and instruments in great detail. But I also understand that if I follow the old factory’s methods here, it won’t exhaust me to death, but it certainly won’t be easy either. I also understand that with so few operators here, it’s not very practical to try to cover everything and delve into detailed learning in the same way as at the old factory. But I also think that if things are done in this way, many different devices will be covered in the learning process, yet the knowledge gained will be superficial; it doesn’t seem to be very conducive to analyzing device-related issues or to the personal development of young people. Sometimes I wonder whether this approach is really good
It seems to be a Western-style management approach; personally, I think it’s fine, but there needs to be a comprehensive management system in place to ensure things don’t get delayed.
If nothing goes wrong, it’s fine, but once there’s a problem, things get extremely busy.
The pattern here is: there is always a culprit for any wrongdoing, and there is always someone who is responsible for debts; responsibilities and rights are clearly defined
Well, but it seems like the amount of things learned is quite limited
Since it’s a new factory, there are surely areas that need time to get sorted out. Do your own job well, and that won’t prevent you from learning other things.
These days, it’s important to have clear divisions of labor and specialized expertise.
In my opinion, comparatively speaking, in the past we were more accustomed to relying on ourselves and could, to a certain extent, work on our own. As it is now, people rely on what’s known as a system; without the support of that system, an individual is nothing
What modern enterprises require is specialization, precision, and everyone doing their best; But this requires a comprehensive system for coordination and oversight, with the seamless connection and proper implementation of various components being key to success or failure.
I think it’s good; there are specialized fields for different tasks, which leads to a higher level of specialization and automation
