Additionally, compressor units require auxiliary oil systems, seal gas systems, and even cooling fluid systems; excessive external or on-site installations would result in additional space consumption, complicated foundation work, and more potential points of failure. Although integrated skid-mounted units have disadvantages such as a compact design that makes maintenance difficult, these drawbacks are outweighed when compared to the overall size of the unit.

This entails significant resource investment. In contrast, with modular systems, factory facilities are fully equipped, quality is guaranteed, and labor costs are low. Not only compressors, but also the skid-mounted development of many miniaturized process units is progressing rapidly.
