The company has a lot of sludge – are there any good methods for dewatering it? Please share your ideas.
A sludge treatment method that removes water from fluid raw, concentrated, or digested sludge to convert it into semi-solid or solid sludge lumps. After dewatering, the moisture content of sludge can be reduced to 55% to 80%, depending on the properties of the sludge and sediment as well as the efficiency of the dewatering equipment. The further dewatering of sludge is known as sludge drying, and the moisture content of the dried sludge is below 10 percent. The methods of dehydration mainly include natural drying, mechanical dehydration, and granulation. Natural drying and mechanical dewatering methods are suitable for sewage sludge. The granulation method is suitable for sludge from coagulation sedimentation.
For larger quantities, mechanical dehydration is a more suitable method.
For sludge dewatering, after biological digestion, plate and frame filters, stack filters, and vacuum belts are generally used, with vacuum belts being the most common choice. Chemical sludge uses plate and frame, vacuum belt.
What is the moisture content of your sludge? If it is around 80% moisture, secondary filtration can be used to reduce the moisture content to about 40%. For higher requirements, drying is necessary
