What material should be used for the aeration pipes in the aerobic tank of wastewater treatment?

I’ve seen explanations stating that underwater pipes are made of ABS, while surface pipes are made of stainless steel, cast iron, or fiberglass. I would like to ask the experienced colleagues why such a choice is made
Material selection criteria: operating temperature, pressure, and medium properties. Just check them one by one.
It has strong corrosion resistance; PVC pipes are also used!
