In traditional steam cracking for ethylene production, once light hydrocarbons become the feedstock, what criteria are used to determine whether it is possible to eliminate the oil tower? If the pyrolysis gas is introduced directly into the water tower, could there be a problem with emulsification of the quench water? And how can this be determined? So far, it has only been observed that the quench oil tower can be omitted when propylene and ethylene are used as raw materials, but the principle behind this has not been clarified. Is there anyone experienced who can offer some advice?

The raw material ratio is approximately 2 to 1 for propane to ethane
Could you please check whether there are any ethylene plants in China that use light hydrocarbon naphtha as a raw material? The raw materials are sourced from the Middle East, or from Indonesia and Australia
There is none that has been completed; the cracking unit of Ningxia Coal under construction is likely to use light hydrocarbons and naphtha as raw materials
That must be methane coupling to produce ethylene, right?
I’m not familiar with this device you mentioned; are they building this? Whose technology is being used? I’m talking about the steam cracking unit
Oh, I overthought it; that’s the traditional thermal pyrolysis process
Quench water does not cause emulsification; our facility does not have an oil tower, and propylene is cracked using ethane – basically, adding alkali is sufficient to maintain stable pH levels
