Coking double-flange maintenance?

Our company’s coking unit came online in 2012, and its first maintenance will take place in 2016. There are approximately 90 instruments with single or double flanges in this unit, many of which are used for measuring heavy oil. What should be done with these instruments during the shutdown period? Scanning along with production? Can the primary valve not be closed during scanning? If the valve is closed, the medium in the pipe section cannot be discharged; it freezes when the temperature drops. Could this cause the flanges to get damaged during disassembly? Can the flange diaphragm box withstand cleaning along with the production pipeline? Will it get damaged? Seeking everyone's experience with shutdowns for maintenance? Thank you
Under normal circumstances, it shouldn’t be purged along with the production line, but if no purging is done, the substances inside cannot be removed. If that’s not possible, you can first purge the upstream section to ensure it is thoroughly clean; this way, the instruments can be purged as well. Pay attention to the pressure during purging
