The installed unit is in use; there are sand holes in the differential pressure tapping tubes for measuring liquefied gas. How should this be dealt with? Unable to clock in, thank you.
We have never encountered sand holes in liquefied gas pipelines; the only options are to recall the material or stop production, inject water locally, and then enclose the area.
I think the only option is to return the material, but I’m not sure whether the problem lies with the part you installed, on that device. If the device has little impact on production, it can be separated.
It’s a welding issue; the weld wasn’t done properly at the tee joint
If that’s not possible, cut it out; the material should not go into this device and instead should be sent to the subsequent equipment. I’ve seen people cutting and welding while using steam for cleaning; I guess with such a high flow rate of gas, it’s not possible to do that. If nothing else works, the only option is to park
Leakage at the tee connection indicates that it is located after the root valve. If there is a high-point vent, the root valve can be closed, and purging can be carried out from the high-point vent to the low-point vent. If high-quality stainless steel pipes are used for the pressure tap lines and the pressure is not high, a ferrule joint could be considered as a solution.
I can only say hehe! Leak sealing can also be done under pressure at the tee connection! It’s ugly!
The pressure tap pipe remains the pressure boundary; it is still dangerous to have sand holes in this area. Such issues should be assessed by the process or mechanical engineering teams, as they are not something that the instrumentation and control team can resolve – after all, the instrumentation and control boundary lies downstream of the gate valve.
Thank you all. The issue has been resolved now: after shutting off the pressure tapping, the area was purged, and once the explosion testing was successful, someone rewelded it properly
