Why is butylene isomerized to isobutylene, and why not to epichlorohydrin?
Isobutylene is a very important chemical raw material. 1. In alkylation reactions, it reacts with isobutane in the presence of sulfuric acid or hydrofluoric acid to produce isooctane, which is a component used in the formulation of high-quality gasoline. 2. Oxidation reaction: selective oxidation using air in the presence of a solid catalyst to produce methacrylic acid. 3. Hydration reaction: reacts with water in the presence of sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, or ion exchange resin to produce tert-butanol. 4. Etherification reaction: reacts with methanol in the presence of sulfonic acid ion exchange resin to produce MTBE. 5. Condensation reaction: It reacts with formaldehyde in the presence of phosphoric acid, boric acid, and ion exchange resin to produce DMD, which is then cleaved to yield isoprene. 6. Polymerization reaction: Butyl rubber is obtained by reacting in a chloromethane solution using aluminum trichloride as a catalyst. 7. Copolymerization reaction: reacts with propylene, n-butylene, styrene, isoprene, etc. to produce copolymers.
Butene is isomerized to isobutylene, which is then used to produce MTBE! !
