I have recently been learning about *environmental protection knowledge, and I would appreciate it if fellow internet users could help with two questions: 1. What are the main differences between incinerators and flares? 2. What substances can be fed into an incinerator or torch to be burned?

When gas is burned, it produces fire and smoke; if the burning is not proper, it can result in creeping flames or black smoke. This causes little pollution to the surrounding air. However, acidic gases (hydrogen sulfide) are different – even a small amount of them cannot be completely burned when released through the flare, especially when the wind direction is unfavorable. Many years ago, some organizations were considering building a large condenser along with a corresponding incinerator for the purge gas or vent gas in systems containing hydrogen sulfide. The incinerator features closed combustion, a long reaction time, and complete burning.
The main difference is that incinerators are environmental protection equipment, while torches are both environmental protection equipment and safety equipment. An incinerator is an environmental protection device that burns waste gas, waste liquid, solid waste, etc. at high temperatures to achieve reduction in volume or harmless treatment ; The flare is used to ensure that exhaust gases are discharged in compliance with regulations through combustion; simultaneously, it serves as the final safety barrier to ensure compliant discharge of materials from the facility in case of abnormal operating conditions.

It is preliminarily determined that there is a problem with the flare design in your plant: the combustion efficiency is insufficient. Issues such as flowing flames in the gas flare, black smoke, and incomplete combustion in the hydrogen sulfide flare are all caused by this problem. It is best to have a qualified torch design firm conduct a diagnosis. Furthermore, due to its chemical properties (hydrogen sulfide), acidic gas emissions cannot be burned in incinerators, as mandated by regulations.
