I would like to ask the experts: as the title suggests, will hydrogen sulfide and oxygen react at around 150°C?
It depends on the conditions; if it’s dry, then no；
It is the raw gas produced by atmospheric-pressure fixed-bed gasification, with water in saturated form – will a reaction occur?
This post was last edited by ylb913 on 2015-7-17 at 20:13. At room temperature, hydrogen sulfide also produces sulfur in the presence of oxygen; this is based on practical experience, not mere speculation. It’s just a matter of how fast the reaction is.
Hydrogen sulfide can react smoothly with air at room temperature; when the temperature is higher than room temperature and the oxidant is oxygen, a reaction will definitely occur, and the reaction rate will be faster than that using air. At the same temperature, increasing the oxygen concentration by five times will increase the reaction rate by approximately 2.5 to 3 times. If the heat generated by the reaction is not removed in time, or if heat accumulates, sulfur dioxide can be produced further.
The poster explained that it is crude gas produced by a fixed-bed reactor at atmospheric pressure, and hydrogen sulfide in this gas does not react with oxygen at around 150°C.
