Everyone, we currently have DN50 pipes for Class A media, with a design pressure of 0.7 Mpa and a temperature of 100 degrees. Should water or air be used for the leakiness test? What is the difference between the two? The book says air is recommended, but we used water in our previous projects. Thank you!

I have doubts about this as well. A leak test is required after both pressure tests with water and with air. The reason for the air pressure test is understandable, but why is it necessary to use compressed air for the leak test after a water pressure test?
The water used for pressure testing must be drained; otherwise, it will cause rust to form on the inner walls of the pipes.
It is effective for checking airtightness, as it can detect even small pitting and cracks.
Why are strength tests conducted with water or gas, while leakage tests always use gas?
