The diesel fuel we produce for use in vehicles passes all the quality tests in the finished product storage areas. However, when it arrives at the oil depot in train tank cars, its flash point is found to have dropped from 76 degrees to 36 degrees, although its initial boiling point remains at 160 degrees. I suspect the tank cleaning vehicle didn’t clean it thoroughly, but what substance, even in small amounts, could cause such a significant drop in the flash point?
It’s the solvent used for cleaning tank trucks; it wasn’t cleaned properly. This substance has a much lower flash point, and explosions could occur. It’s still better to clean it up properly.
It should be solvent oil; be careful, though – its flash point is too low. You must be very cautious.

The flash point refers to the lowest temperature at which a petroleum product, under specified conditions, will ignite instantly when its vapor comes into contact with a flame upon heating. The lighter the oil, the lower its flash point. The hazard level of oils is determined by their flash point. The higher the flash point, the safer it is.
Diesel has a low flash point because it contains small amounts of light components that are typical of gasoline. This always exists under the gas-liquid equilibrium adjustment of the diesel extraction tray. To this end, the distilled diesel is fed into a stripping tower, where steam is blown in at the lower part of the tower to vaporize the light components.
