What are the purposes of the two pressure difference parameters in the chiller process flow: the pressure difference between the primary seal gas and the balance line, and the pressure difference between the primary seal gas and the vent line?
In the refrigeration unit’s process flow, the pressure difference between the primary seal gas and the balance line serves to prevent dirty gases from within the cylinder from reaching the primary seal surface, thereby avoiding contamination of that surface and preventing damage to it. The pressure difference between the primary seal gas and the vent line prevents gases from the flare from flowing back to the primary seal surface, thereby avoiding contamination of that surface and preventing damage to it.
