In the operation of a unit distillation column, the top product of the C2 separation column is ethylene while the bottom product is ethane. Ethylene is considered a pure product with a purity of 99.9%, but it currently contains carbon monoxide in ppm levels – how can this issue be resolved? I hope experts can help answer this. It’s best not to carry carbon monoxide.
Carbon monoxide at the ppm level is difficult to remove; it cannot be removed through hydrogenation using active nickel, and removal is only possible through selective adsorption. However, due to the low concentration, the effect will not be very good either. But are there any figures specifying the limit on carbon monoxide content in the standards for ethylene products?
