For DN80 clamp-type butterfly valves, the materials available include ductile iron, cast iron, carbon steel, and forged steel. What are the differences between these materials, and what are their respective advantages? Is the same material used in the north as in the south?
The appropriate material should be chosen based on the operating conditions. In current engineering projects, ordinary cast iron, sanitary-grade stainless steel, and cast steel are commonly used. Each material has its own range of acceptable temperatures and pressures; it is necessary to determine the conditions of your application in order to select the suitable material. Ductile iron (up to 350, pressure below 25), cast iron (pressure below 16, temperature below 200), carbon steel (below 425 degrees, below 100 pressure); forged steel is similar to carbon steel. The north and south are about the same. For example, in corrosive engineering, factors such as the corrosion rate of the materials, the properties of those materials, and their corrosion resistance must be taken into account. Leave the selection to the technical team or the manufacturer.
Cast iron is used in the south, while cast steel is recommended in the north as it has a longer lifespan. The temperature is too low; the valve body will freeze and crack.
