In dry gas hydrogen production units, it is necessary to prevent methanation reactions from occurring. I would like to ask what the conditions for such reactions are, and at what temperature range do methanation reactions take place?
The methanation reaction can take place at around 250 degrees Celsius in the presence of a suitable catalyst, usually one based on nickel.
So, to prevent the methanation reaction, the temperature needs to be at least 250 degrees Celsius, right?
This requires taking into account your operating conditions; it is necessary to determine whether methanation could occur under those conditions in order to establish appropriate measures
Considering the operating conditions, what else is there besides temperature? If other operating conditions are not taken into account, then just from the perspective of temperature – including during normal production operations as well as during startup and shutdown processes – what temperature level is necessary to prevent the occurrence of methanation reactions?
