The selection of PAM should be related to the medium that needs to be dehydrated; for sludge, cationic types are generally preferred
It is mainly related to slurry preparation; a water treatment plant may use both anionic and cationic PAMs at the same time.
Both anions and cations are acceptable. It is best to prepare a filter cake before filtration; using silica-dried soil is beneficial for both the filtration process and the removal of the slag.
