What is the difference between switching and starting a light hydrocarbon pump and a regular cold oil pump? If there is a reason
Since it’s a light hydrocarbon pump, the pressure must be high, right? Personally, I don’t think there’s much difference; it’s just that after starting the pump, the outlet valve should be opened promptly to prevent the light hydrocarbons from vaporizing and causing the pump to run dry
I had been working with light oil pumps and heavy oil pumps before; it seems that light hydrocarbon pumps are prone to cavitation. The process of starting and stopping such pumps is similar, beginning with filling the pump. Secondly, it is necessary to ensure sufficient back pressure.

It is recommended to fill the pump again before starting it, to ensure that the pump is completely filled with light hydrocarbons. When starting the pump, after turning on the motor, open the outlet valve slowly and promptly; do not keep the pump under pressure for too long, to prevent the light hydrocarbons from vaporizing and causing gas locking. During switching, it is the same as switching a regular centrifugal pump.
When switching the light hydrocarbon pump, it is first necessary to fill the pump. The outlet valve of the pump that is currently in operation should be slightly closed, until there is a change in the flow rate; then the outlet valve of the standby pump should be slightly opened, the motor of the standby pump started, and the switch-over completed.

Light hydrocarbon pumps are prone to cavitation; it is necessary to ensure that the inlet pressure is sufficient. If the light hydrocarbon pump is not a shielded pump, extra attention should be paid to the mechanical seal
