Everyone, the grating plates on the bottom deck of offshore platforms are suffering from severe corrosion. Currently, galvanized gratings are being used, but they wear out after a few years. Is there any better material suitable for use in an environment exposed to seawater? I was previously aware of fiberglass materials, but regulations require that escape routes be made of steel, so fiberglass was discarded. Is there any better material?

Polymer coating materials will do; we have worked on seawater pipelines in coastal power plants, as well as marine water pumps, screws, rudder pins and other components used in the shipbuilding industry – all of which are exposed to seawater environments, and these materials offer excellent corrosion resistance.
For seawater components, it is recommended to use materials coated with fluorocarbon paint; this option is not expensive and offers a long service life.

FRP does have an aging issue, but I’ve heard that there are now FRP types with better weather resistance (with **additives** added)
