What is the typical amount of naphthalene in the gas after the primary cooler? Measured using the picric acid method, version 08; our current reading is around 400. The spraying was not done properly. I’m curious to know what the values are in your companies. Thank you for sharing this information

It mainly depends on your temperature; around 400 is also normal. As long as the temperature in subsequent processes remains above 24 degrees, naphthalene generally will not precipitate. It is not wise to lower the temperature of the primary cooler too much in order to remove naphthalene; instead, the entire purification process should be optimized. The liquid used for spraying in the primary cooler needs to contain a certain amount of tar, otherwise the cooler will often get clogged
