The inlet pipe and outlet pipe are generally sized one size larger. If the pipeline is long, has many bends, and high valve resistance, scale it up further based on the calculation results.
The size of the pipe can be calculated based on the flow velocity; generally, the flow velocity of wastewater at the pump outlet is around 2–3 m/s. The appropriate pipe diameter is selected based on the flow rate and flow velocity. Based on design experience, the diameter of general inlet and outlet pipes should be one size larger than that of the pump’s inlet. But it’s best to calculate it yourself.
